Question rpms and shifting ?

hey what rpms should i be shifting at in my 01 3/4 dodge 5.9 diesel 5 speed? pulling and not pulling.





01 3/4 5 speed. pyro. boost .egtgauges.

going to install edge ez.

When you're pulling or accelerating hard, don't be afraid to wind it all the way up. It's actually better for the engine than pulling hard at low RPM. When you hit a hill pulling, downshift if the accelerator is floored but the truck won't accelerate. It's perfectly OK to keep it wound out all the way up the hill. When empty just do what feels good to you, you'll get a feel for what the truck likes. If the truck doesn't feel responsive after an upshift, you shifted too early.

I was having the same problem/questions till i went over to wannadiesels to get my kdp fixed and explained the same thing to me, It is a lot better to drive now, but my only question is what is the determining factor in mpg, does it have to do more with rpm or throttle position
