Reverse-Light Switch

Does any one know where the switch for the reverse-lights is located? Is it on the side of the 47RE or is it on the steering colum?

Kewl, Thanks guys. Is it activated inside the tranny, or from the linkage outside of the tranny? My problem is that my reverse light's won't go on while in reverse unless I apply a little bit of pressure towards the park setting on the shifter. So I'm thinking I need to adjust...........something........ to make it worl correctly.

Yeah, same thing was happening to me. I replaced the switch and that took care or the problem. I didn't have to adjust the linkage. The switch looks sort of like the MAP or IAT sensors. Its screws into the tranny and has a wire connector on it.

Here's a not so great picture of the neutral safety switch.
My reverse lights would only come on if I had the shifter just so in a certain position.
Got a replacement at autozone for around $25
Some trans fluid may drip out when you remove the old one, just be ready with the new one, so you can quickly screw it in.

Just to elaborate...alot of tranny fluid came out ,at least 1/2 quart before I got the new switch in, I ended up sticking my finger in the hole to slow the oil till I got the switch screwed in. on mine the "washer/gasket" stayed in the hole. so I did not instal the new gasket for fear of double stacking them. I'm not sure how much oil will come out but it showed no signs of stopping.
Mine too suffered from the wiggle the shifter to keep the reverse lights on, replaced the switch and no amount of shifter wiggling causes the lights to go out, so I would not mess with any adjustments of the shifter.
