Replacement rings and bearings.
Folks, I need a set of rings and rod bearings for my 98.5. It's bone stock with 200k and I've been underpowered for a while. I was parked the other day, and with the light just so I noticed smoke/haze coming from under the engine. Mmm... Got it home and sho' 'nuff, blowby. Lots of blowby. Dang!
So, does anyone have part #'s and or sources? I'd appreciate it. TIA.

The truck isn't actually mine, it's my mother-in-law's. She bought it new, and from what I understand it's been a dog all it's life. Nothing but breakdown after breakdown. In saying that, the truck hasn't been properly maintained either; hot shutdowns, no warm up periods, extended idling, hauling in OD, long periods without changing oil etc etc.
So, I've got a real mess on my hands, and she doesn't really want to spend the $$ to do it properly. If it was mine I'd dump the thing and start again, but it ain't mine. It is fixable, but I'm trying to get a feel for how much it's going to cost, and if it's worth it.
Thanks for the replies!

Power and wear are generally separate things. A severely worn engine will lose a little power and have heavy blowby. Bottom bearings may knock, but these things don't really make huge differences in power. Look elsewhere.
If the engine has been poorly maintained, first thing I say is do a "motor flush" it is a solvent that will free up sticky rings. Rings on high mileage engines sometimes get stuck in the carbon buildup in the piston ring grooves causing blowby and lower compression. The motor flush frees up this gunk. I try and run it before I tear an engine down because it cleans things up so well.
Also, it will clean up the ports behind the oil control rings. EVERY SINGLE engine I have ever torn down these little oil ports were plugged up.
My guess is you have a boost or exhaust leak preventing the boost from building up which will make the truck a "dog" or maybe a fuel filter or something like that. The computer prevents fueling until boost builds, so if you have a preturbo exhaust leak or boost leak it will be a turd until you rev it up. A fueling mod will fix this (injector tips or a small chip) but the problem should still be fixed obviously.

you need to put a gauge on the vp44 if the filter is plugged up or the lift pump is weak it will ruin the vp44. totalloser is giving you good advice. and i have seen engines that ran the k&n filter have blow by so bad you thought it was another exhaust pipe and still had good power

I agree, unless it is hard starting more than likely there is nothing wrong, I re-diagnosed an engine for courior company about 2months ago, they were told that the engine was dusted and that the engine had no compression, and the repair bill would be 9000$ for a new engine, I went to look at it, it fired right up, and smoked white/blue, all that was wrong was the turbo let go and was dumping oil into the intake and exhaust, 1000$ later the owner was as happy as a lark.
long story short, if you'd need alot of blow-by before the rings are that bad, or see a huge improvement in power because of rings.
engine performance shortages are more likely found some where else.
My two cents

My 02 has like 27 K miles on it and there is a steady stream of steam that comes out of the blow by hose , did it since new so I don't think you can go by the amout of smoke / steam that comes out of the hose to guage engine wear.
