i saw a guy around town that put on really wide tires[single rim]. looked cool. no mods from what i could see. you could go that way and not need to remove any body panels, and keep your axle

Look at the thread about repairing dually fenders in the NO DRIVETRAIN area. There is quite a bit of patching involved to change from dually to single bed. Better to swap a new bed from a single rear wheel truck. I need a better 2nd gen dually bed to replace mine, but I don't have a single bed to trade with you.

Tank a look at my thread " Dually Fender Repair" that i started. The second post i have some pictures thet show the repair work needed to convert a DRW to SWR using the origional box.
If you a sheetmetel pro you can probably get it done with time and effort but MAN what a pain.
I know your pain though. i was looking for a SRW ext. cab long bed a couple years ago when i bought mine too but i got a deal on this one so i jumped. Tires alone on this truck is a good swift kick in the @$$.
Good luck.

ya tell me about it I just bought a set of 35s wow$$$. I thought I had to sell the old ladys quad to pay for them LOL.I geuss I'll leave it alone untill I come across a bed.I have a d70 from a srw 1ton.so I have the axle but the dually should look pritty cool with 35s on it and a leveling kit. they wont rub if you toss the stock bumber.I build custom bumbers any way.

well, i am in Sacramento and I am taking the bed off of my truck soon. 01 HO SRW 4x4 white.
Let me know if you are interested. I'm going to a light alum flat bed just to cover the frame for 5th wheel and gooseneck towing.
