how bad would my truck look if I swaped the dual rear wheels to singles is there and axle with thats different, will I have screw hole in the side of my bed.the dually was a compramise couse I couldn't find a single rear wheel truck with an HO and 6speed.I do a lot of towing but I rather have single rear wheels.my girlfreind scares me to death when she drives my dually.

i saw a guy around town that put on really wide tires[single rim]. looked cool. no mods from what i could see. you could go that way and not need to remove any body panels, and keep your axle

Can't you take the rear fender flares off too? Then it'll just look like a 3/4 ton.

Yes, you could....but you would have some horrible looking wheel wells....the wheel openings are cut larger and to a different shape on a dually box than an SRW. It wouldn't look pretty once the dually fender was removed!

In additon to the ugly wheel openings, you will have a ton of holes in the box where the fender bolts were. Also, the DRW D80 axle is wider than either SRW axle.

Look at the thread about repairing dually fenders in the NO DRIVETRAIN area. There is quite a bit of patching involved to change from dually to single bed. Better to swap a new bed from a single rear wheel truck. I need a better 2nd gen dually bed to replace mine, but I don't have a single bed to trade with you.

Tank a look at my thread " Dually Fender Repair" that i started. The second post i have some pictures thet show the repair work needed to convert a DRW to SWR using the origional box.

If you a sheetmetel pro you can probably get it done with time and effort but MAN what a pain.
I know your pain though. i was looking for a SRW ext. cab long bed a couple years ago when i bought mine too but i got a deal on this one so i jumped. Tires alone on this truck is a good swift kick in the @$$.

Good luck.
