Remand VP dead out of box
Bought a new VP pump due to my lift pump going out and was scared of VP life after loosing fuel pressure and miles already on the VP. I went to install the pump after the kids were done with all the Xmas stuff opened the bag and the pump was broke where the wires plug in. Best part is I ordered it so that it would be here before Xmas due to we had a trip planed and was headed out tomorrow on a 350 mile round trip with the fifth wheel. I guess I will play Russian roulette and still go on the trip as the old pump still works and does not have any codes.

I have a buddy that runs his 02 out of fuel with regularity, even lost a Lift pump and had the dreaded 0216 code bad enough that I had to run it on WD40 for close to 5 min. to get her going again.
His VP is still chuffing away.
Run it, you can't second guess the date of it's death.

I hope so if this truck breaks down the little misses will be upset as will I. I would rather spend a few dollars and try and avoid the miss haps that come along heck I even have a new cam sensor to go in when the new pump arrives. It's the ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure deal for me.

My lp went out a few years back after the ECM died. Not sure how long it was out but took it in immediately and the dealer replaced it with the intank unit, which I still have and is turning around 9-10 psi.
I figured on replacing the vp by now but it still runs strong and gets decent mileage so I forget about it.....
