Relocating FPCM on VP-44
Being that the electronics on the VP-44 dont like vibration and heat/cooling cycles has anyone ever tried to re-locate the brain to another location?? I know on the old chevy diesels relocating the PMD away from the heat and vibration made them last like 1000 times longer so why not do that with the VP-44's brain?? I dont know how many wires are connected to it but I know there are two solenoids, so thats 4 wires, and I know there is some kind of sensor inside it so maby 6 or 7? Doesnt seem that complicated.
Just an idea.

The ECM mounted on side of engine seems robust in it's current position. Not sure have encontered a bad one from heat or vibrations. The small brain on VP44 would have perhaps some potential. However IMHO any advantage would be lost in potential wiring failures from making a jumper harness.

The other problem with relocating the FPCM is the 4 tiny wires inside the pump that connect the FPCM to the Angle of Rotation (AOR) sensor. This is a tiny sensor inside the pump. Those signals could be very sensitive to external interference. Being inside the pump casing, the sensor and it's wires are very well shielded.
