Redundant tranny question ... sorry!
I know this has been addressed by others, but I can't, for the life of me, find it with the search feature.
Driving on the freeway this afternoon, cruising at 70 mph, and I notice the rpm's change. I glanced down at the tach and noticed it was surging between 2200 and 2300, obviously the tranny was loosing lockup. It did this about half a dozen times, over the period of about five minutes, now it's running fine. What's the fix? APPS reset?

APPS reset might work, probably not though.
Try cleaning the battery terminals and reseating them really good.
Also, if your batteries are towards the end of their useful life, it can cause this problem.
Doesn't make sense, but it works for many.

Battery terminals are tight and clean with dielectric grease.
This happened to me once before, about a month ago, but it only did it a couple of times while pulling a long steep grade, so I didn't give it much thought. This is the only other time it's happened. Makes me think that something's about to give. Any other suggestions?

I would like to know also. Mine did it bad enough to make the truck jerk slightly, enough to where I could feel it. I replaced the batteries and it fixed that, but most recent time towing I just noticed it on the tach also. Couldn't feel it this time. my tranny, every now and then gets an attitude about downshifting, but has so far been running ok.

I left my lights on for a long time and when I restarted the truck it did the same thing. After the truck had time to charge up it quit. I did reset the throttle position switch.

What voltage should a battery hold when it's in decent shape?
I'm showing about 12.5 volts on each. I thought it should be around 12.63 volts, but I could be wrong. Wouldn't be the first time ... ask my wife!

Geico266, I think you're right. I have no idea how old they are, as they were in the truck when I bought it eight months ago. A couple of Sears Die Hard's. Probably time to step up to Interstate batteries ... those are what I normally put in all my cars, when the time comes.

40lbs, WOW, I'll have to check into those! See what happens when you start getting old!
EDIT: I went to the Optima site, did a search, and they were unable to return any results for my truck.
