Recommended shift speeds for 47RE trans

I have a 2002 Dodge Diesel 2500 Ram truck with the 47RE automatic transmission. The Dodge dealer has been searching for a TC lockup problem and they don't know what they are doing in trying to fix this problem. So as a last ditch effort the dealer rebuilt the trans and "played" around with the TV cable adjustment and now the trans shifts to late relative to how it shifted before they monkeyed with it. I have looked in the service manual for the target shift speeds but none are listed. If someone knows what the shift speeds should be I would appreciate the information. The truck has a 3.54 axle ratio and is 2 wheel drive.

Thanks,

Mike

I'd like to refer you to the following link:

http://www.dieseltrans.com/phpBB/vie...t=cable+adjust

The shift speeds do vary a lot depending on the conditions- mainly throttle position, but also transmission temp etc.
The cable needs to be adjusted properly, because it influences line pressure. And line pressure holds some of your clutches.

Another thing that affects shift speeds is if the engine has been modified it then puts out more power with less throttle opening= less throttle pressure unless the trans has been set up to compensate.

I Wish It Shift Sooner

Mine also goes to overdrive at 45mph. For easy, empty load, rural road driving, I wish I could get into overdrive sooner. That would save a lot of fuel $. I'm sure this engine could handle overdrive at lower speeds. Right? I guess that's the advantage of a manual tranny.

Mm not really a good thing. Would be lugging the engine too much, taking temperatures higher which is no good. Also, I don't think our stock trannies/torque converters would be able to handle it either.

Usually I'll run O/D off until I am about 50-55mph then let O/D engage. Sometimes I forget and it engages at 45mph...no niggy, but I just don't like the stock converters and engine lugging
