rebuilt tranny
does anyone know where i could get a good rebuilt tranny for less than 2 grand. is that possible?. don't need alot of power don't have alot of money. i know i should get one of these nice transmission you guys talk about but i just don't have the money. any help please.

STAY FAR AWAY from the rebuilders on Ebay. Do a search on here and you will read that the Ebay trannies are junk.
Give Goerend Bros. a call. They should be able to fix you up. They will only sell you the parts you need.

I don't know about a reman for under 2 grand. They are out there but you get what you pay for. A reman for a stock truck with no updates go for about $2500 installed in these parts. If you do the R&R yourself it will put you right at $2000.

I paid $950 for my reman'd nv4500 from Smart Parts Auto. They claim it's got the updated rear shaft and nut for 5th gear. It's $125 shipping to San Francisco. So far it seems all right, sort of rough getting it into reverse though.
