VW, if your truck is a 2500, then yes, any SRW axle will bolt up to it. I have the 80 in mine, and it's a beefcake. Pretty heavy *****. Be prepared for a workout wrestling that badboy under your rig. If you're looking for a traction enhancement, now would be the ideal time to do it. The tracLok that comes in these are pretty much garbage from the factory, they are set way too lose and quick working over time. You can restack the clutches in it to tighten it up a little, but I ditched mine all together and went with a Detroit Locker. Works great, just thought I'd bring it up if you were thinking about it.

Thanks Jax. I don't know if I will spend that much dough or not. I personallyhave not had any locker issues except on the current one. The previous 2 rears did not have locker issues. I got to weigh the costs of rebuilding my 60, vs just moving up to a 70 or 80. Thanks for the advice though.

I put a dana 80 with disc brakes in my 99 2500 because I had broke 2 dana 70's in my previous 99. It bolted up no problem besides having the drive shaft shorter. The disc brakes made a big difference in my truck. Not only stopping better, but a more consistant feel & no adjustments to the drums every oil change & going in reverse & slamming on the brakes before towing heavy to tighten them up temporarily.

Thanks for your post. I have tried a rear with discs. I was not impressed. I think I saw somewhere about taking the plunger out of the ABS block under the hood, to get real 4 wheel braking. Did you change your Master cylinder or brake booster. I tried to swap mine to a disc brake M.C., but the disc brake one is bigger and won't bolt up. I may try that route again, but will definetly swap the MC & brake booster. Is the speed sensor the same as the ones in the DANA 60? I did put the larger disc brake reservoir on our drum brake master cylinder. As previously posted, the Dana 80 I need to use is a SRW set up. Is that what you used? Thanks again.

Not sure but you might get the u-bolts from the 80 as well because they are probably bigger than your 60's.

Thanks. I actually had some 5/8s made not long ago. I will definetly try to get those, in the event I need them.

I did not change the master cylinder or do anything under the hood. I did tie the bed load valve lever to simulate a full load, intearn flowing more presure to the rear. I had the chevy 1 ton wheel cylinders for years & still had inconsitant braking. You will need u bolts that are the same diameter as the 80 & either the top plate or bottom plate depending how you route your u bolts. I know the 80 has thicker tubes than my 70 did. The speed sensor was the same from my swap & I did use the brake line splitter off my 70 on my 80 so I did not have to do any new flares or brake lines.

I know the 4 wheel disc brakes supposedly require more fluid and pressure. I believe that is the reason the MC & BB are larger. I recently had some new ubolts made, in 5/8ths diameter, and also a little longer. If they don't work, I guess I can get me some more made, again.
