Really interesting oil leak! Data Plate rivets?
O.K. , I spend most of my time under the hood of 3rd gens, but my wife's uncle has a 2001 24V. I put an injection pump on and a lift pump a while back. Now he has an interesting oil leak. I know this sounds odd, but it appears to be coming from under the Data Plate! The only thing we can think of is the rivets? I know, I know, pretty unlikely, but the seal for the injection pump looks impeccably clean - no oil. Anyone run accross anything like this before. I took a quick look at it tonight with a flashlight. Can't really see it leaking, but can see the oil out the bottom of the plate. Nothing at the top of it!

The rivet holes were drilled too deep and you have break through into the pump. The holes should be blind but yours are not. I would see if you can replace the pump under warranty.
