Rattle under floor board after 2" spacer?

Ive developed a rattle which feels to be under the floorboard of the drivers side after installing the spacers. Felt most when driving on back roads with bumps and not as much at highway speeds. Any suggestions? Thanks!!!

Check your upper and lower control arm bushings and the track bar.

I had a rattle like you are describing after installing my spacers. I had forgotten to replace the
rubber grommets on the upper front shock mount. New ones did not come w/ the kit and I forgot
them when putting it back together. Took me about 2 weeks to figure it out. You might want to
make sure you put them back in. CJ

This is unbelievable!!! I've had a vibration on my front-end for over 6 months. Had it into the shop twice -- the last time they replaced my ball joints, but didn't cure the problem. How can all five of you be so positive that tightening the shock bolts would take care of the problem? Unless.... wait a minute.... just tightened my front shock bolts about 1/4 turn each, took it for a short test drive, and my vibration is gone! I still have a vibration on my rear end -- shocks were replaced at the same time as the fronts. Let me guess... I need to tighten the shock bolts.

This is one of the best places I have found for USEFULL information regarding my truck. Thanks for taking the time to help us less-informed but willing to learn diesel owners!

Now we need to hear from Mr. (or Mrs.?) Buz to find out if that cured it or not.

Phox, that'd be Mr. I've been out of town since this post, but I'll give her a try and let you know. Also I see you run 315's, are those on stock 7.5 rims? I'm thinking of goin' a little bigger and are unsure if my 7.5s are enough. thanks.

No, they are 16x10.

Anything taller than 295's on the stock rims will rub the control arms just before full steering lock.

Might be able to get 305's with minimal control arm rubbing.
Since you already have 295's, just have someone turn the steering wheel to full lock,
and check how much clearance you have before you hit the arm.

Only way to stop the control arm rub is a rim with less backspace, most aftermarket are 4.5",
compared to the over 6" stock backspacing.

I noticed a bump too last week. I read this right before I left work. I walked up to my right front tire, and pushed, with one finger, on the Rancho9k shock, and it moved!

Solved another problem.....thanks guys, youre the greatest!

You guys were exactly correct. A little extra elbow grease on the shock bolts and ..... no more rattle. Thanks a million, rattles like that bother the heck out of me. It's truly impressive how well you guys know these trucks and to make a diagnosis like that with never laying hands on the vehicle. Great site. Great members!
