Pyro Temp

Pyro Temp
I have my pyro mounted pre turbo in a 2001 with a high output.
I pull a trailer that is 11,500 up a 6% grade for 6-7 mi. My pyro reads about 1350°. is this normal for a stock truck?

It sounds alittle above normal, but the temp is WAY to high for that long of stretch. You can do some turbo damage if you do it for a long period of time. You should consider a larger exhaust system and a better air flow box, like a Scotty 2 or a BHAF to let that turbo breath. Just my $.02.

Long, steep hill with a fairly heavy load...Sounds possibly about right. Also, way to hot to stay on the throttle for that long a time, IMHO!
What Gear/Speed? Did you try others?
I'm sure others with more towing expirience than I will chime in here, but that's hotter than I would be comfortable with.

owtlaw i have to think you are getting to hot. i did my exhaust and intake before the gauge install. i wish the gauges went in first. i do belive that a good intake and exhaust will bring the temps down.

Towing our 13,500 lb 5th wheel, we're seeing the following max EGT's on 6-7% grades:
Stock - 1300 degF @ 21 PSIG boost
EZ, 4" exhaust, BHAF, stock injectors - 1100 degF @ 30 PSIG boost
EZ, 4" exhaust, BHAF, DD2 injectors - 1250 degF @ 34 PSIG boost
EZ unplugged, 4" exhaust, BHAF, DD2 injectors - 1100 degF @ 30 PSIG boost
