pyro install help

I am installing a pyro in my 2001. I have everything figured out except how far down in the manifold do I stick the thermo couple? You can slide it up and down in the fitting to adjust the depth. I assume you want as much as possible in there but do you want the bottom of it to touch the bottom side of the manifold or do you want to leave a little gap in there?

Re:pyro install help

IMHO about 1/2 to 2/3 of the way in is about right. It really shouldn't touch the far side of the manifold.

Re:pyro install help

Measure the depth of the hole and place the end of the thermocouple in the middle of the manifold. Only the very tip of the thermocouple reads the temp so try and get it as close to the center of the gas stream as possible.

DO NOT let it touch the other side as an install perminantly... This could cause breakage of the tip and have it go through the turbo!!!

J-eh

Re:pyro install help

Thanks for the info. I put it in about halfway and it seems to be working good. I really like knowing what my temps are. makes me feel a lot better.
