Re:PTO
I think maybey what you read is these automakers are starting to come out with electric / motorized vehicles. Dodge is planning on an electric / cummins truck for 2005. Don't hold me to the year. How I know this, is we had training on electric cars back about a month ago. ( I'm a firefighter ) And Dodge is supposed to make a contractors truck. It will still have the cummins in it along with an electric motor. This will help power the truck as well as being a 5500k generator. Nice for camping! I don't know the full details, just that they are suppossed to introduce this in 2005.

Kimrey

Re:PTO
I think what Heath was asking about was a generator that can be run by the PTO. I am sure that there are applications that are available. As to the price, I am not sure but I would think it would be $pendy!!! Check with a local truck body shop. They should be able to point you in the right direction. Let us know what you find out. Could be useful!

Re:PTO
I have seen small generators that mount in the engine compartment of your truck, but those run off the accesories belt. They have enough power to weld with or run a small air compressor. The only PTO generators I've ever seen are really large units I've seen some guys mout them on trailers so they can run them with farm tractors but they would take up a whole truck bed.

One of the coolest units I've ever seen is the Powerbox it mounts in your truck bed like a toolbox and is a aircompressor and generator. 8)

Click Here for a link their website

I think they are pretty pricey but very cool non the less.

DB
