Propane question

I am new to Diesels and have just bought a 98 24V Ram 2500.

It has a ATS 2000 propane system installed and I was wondering if using it would be okay?

Also has a Jacobs(I think) exhaust brake and K&N filter.

From reading most seem to think the filter is of little use so I am thinking of replacing it.

Thanks.

Re:Propane question

I keep hearing from people that propane is BAD news on these engines, but, I am thinking that they mean when you get to the higher horsepower and if this is the only mod it will probably be OK.
I have heard from other people that they like their propane systems, and they get better fuel mileage, in addition to the extra power, because of the propane enhanced burning in the cylinder.
I am going on into the 400+ hp range myself, and will avoid propane, but you will probably be OK with it unless you get the bombing bug.

Others may be able to shed more light on this.

Re:Propane question

I added propane to my bobmed first gen. Yes, there is a difference with it, but I found it to be a nuisance to fill it all the time.
What year/engine/tranny is your rig? It could easily be that bombing and sticking with #2 only could yield you better results.

Re:Propane question

The truck is a 1998 24V 5 speed 4x4.

I am thinking of getting the programmer that can also adjust the speedo for tire changes as the truck has 305/70/16's on it and the added bonus is it can boost HP and torque.

I am not looking for a race truck just some extra power.
