Pressure tested the intercooler plumbing...
...or aftercooler???
Nevertheless, I made plugs from pvc caps and put a valve stem in one of the caps at the intake horn. I used my electric pump to pressurize the system and once it was close to 20 psi there was a loud boom. I fell off the step stool and dang near wet me leg.
I fixed the blown plug and started over, pumping up to 15.5 pis and checked it with a digital gauge for about a minute. I believe it dropped a .5 psi in a minute.
Is this amount of pressure loss a concern?

Smoke!
My 99 with a 3-light Edge never left soot on the quarterpanel but my 01 covers it and it was stock until a week ago. The tailpipe on my 01 is horizontal though which may be the difference.
I just put the EZ on my 01 and I was having to baby it to keep the smoke down, hammer it below about 10 psi and I was leaving a huge black cloud. I moved the dip switch to the opposite end and it smokes a lot less.
I have checked just about everything after several posts on the smoke situation and the pressure test was the last item.
I guess it's dirty injectors, the high ambient temps, poor diesel or a combintation of all the factors.
I'm just glad I didn't hear any hissing from the interooler
