Popping From Front End

Ok, this truck has pulled to one side or the other for about 2 years. Now when I back up and smash the brakes to ensure rear adjusters working, I am getting a loud POP. I changed the track bar, still there, still pulls. any ideas what it is?

Check your drag link and wheel bearings and pretty much the whole front end. Look for play, best I can suggest.

Popping

If you have 4x4 then the likely culprit might be the front universal joints on the axle.
try turning the wheels all the way one way and slowly move foreward, even better have someone observe the axle while doing this and if the popping is comming from this location time to change the ujoints.
have fun

jack the front end up and put jack stands on the frame rails so the front axle is suspemded and not under any load. Then start shakin stuff and lookin for something loose. Check the control arms all the steering links trac bar u joints balljoints drive shaft bearings and such thats the easest way.

One problem I had with mine was that the upper A-arm bolts for the camber had come loose and caused this very problem. The shop I took it to for alignment once I found this out said that it was rather common on these trucks.

A lot of weight on the front and they may vibrate loose or not have been tightened enough during the last alignment job.

I second that, if it's a 4x4.

My passenger side upper arm (or is it the lower?, can't remember) got so loose I could move it back and forth by jerking on it.

Tightened them all down to spec, and a year later it started popping again.
Tightened them all down again, and it's still good.

Only popped if I was backing up and stopping, mostly when turning as well, like backing out of a parking spot.

Ok, found I need a new steering box, the shaft has about 1/8" side to side play in it. No wonder I keep adding power steering fluid. Everything else appears tight. Gonna put the big breaker bar on all the control arm bolts tonight and see if that helps. Thinking now that since the truck would one way and then the other under hard braking it could have been the steering box the whole time.
