Please help! trying to find tach wire!

Installing a remote start on my 99, I need to hook up the tachometer wire otherwise it will not stay running. Manual says the wire should have between 1 and 6v. anybody know where this is? Please help, this is the only wall im hitting to get the remote start to function. Thanks

Eric

I believe the 24 valve trucks get the tach signal from the crank or cam position sensor. You have one or the other depending on the year of truck, but I do not remember what years had which sensor.

check your manual. I installed a remote starter on mine, and IIRC I tapped into the crank sensor, or was it the alt output, some remotes sense alt out to confirm the engine is running ,also my remote starter had the diesel option (make sure yours does or it may not start)
