pinion seal problem (please read)!!!!!

National seal 50574. All the parts stores say this doesn't exist, and the seals that they say are listed for my front seal aren't even close to being the same. Anyone else encountered this problem?

No idea what truck you have. I had no problems when I did mine, just went to the parts store and got a seal for a Dana 80. You may be trying to put a 70 seal in an 80.

Ask the parts store for a pinion seal for your year truck w/Dana or Eaton 60.

My CarQuest catalogue list the Dana 80 rear seal as pn 4525V and the Dana 60 seal as pn 719316. You could try to cross reference those if you don't have a local Car Quest.

Hope that helps you out alittle.

well after 15 cross references, (all being wrong) we called national seal. 50574 is discontinued and no longer produced. So he looks up the new replacement for me which is the same # every pats store has given me that is the wrong seal. He had no other answers for my problem. So as a last resort I go to the Dodge dealer and he pulls a # completely different than everyone else. It looks very similar to the original and according to one of their mechanics I spoke to he also had this problem and say's this is the correct replacement. alot more expensive at the dealer and special order from all the other parts stores. The new # is National-47885. Hope this helps someone else out and thanks for everyones input.
