Pinion seal

Does anybody know if there are 2 pinion seals in a dana 80? I pulled the yoke and I only see one but there is a listing for an inner and an outer. Is this just 2 styles of seals or are they both in the same diff? 2001 3500 cab and chasis dually. Thanks

Mine only used one, same axle as yours. Check your yoke, I installed a speedi-sleeve when I found a groove where the seal mated. Hasn't leaked since.

Thanks guys, I am gonna put a yoke in it and I am pretty sure there are just different styles of seals because my 2000 3/4 dana 80 looks completely different. I need to put a front pinion bearing in to thats why it is apart it has some slop that needs to be adressed. Not sure if I need to put an outer race in or not. Does anybody know the SCF or NTN bearing number so I can get one today otherwise I will have to wait until places are open on monday. Thanks again for the help.

On my 2002 with a dana 70 rear there is 2 seals. The main pinion seal drives into the housing and there is a dust seal that slide onto the yoke. My 95 3500 dana 80 has a different style with just a seal into the housing. The parts stores show a seal that will work but its different looking than my 2002 factory seal. I went to the dealer and got the right seal and dust seal along with a new yoke instead of using a speedi sleeve.

as with ANY pinion or axel leak, confirm that the vent hose/tube are clear or your new seal will leak again

I had axle seals go on my old truck caused from the breather being plugged. I can't get the pinion to come out is there some trick to this I heated the inner race with a propane torch and I would estimate it is 3/4's of the way off it it only has to move the width of the race. Does it just have to make it to the splines and then it will slide off? Going to get the oxy/acet on it and try that. I just cant seem to get it the rest of the way. Is the outer race hard to get out and even harder to get in? There was alot of slop so I presume i should put an outer in it. This had turned into a disaster.
