PCM reflash

I'm having trouble with a very early 1-2 shift point under anything but WOT in the 98.5. I was told to get the PCM reflashed to raise the shift points. I don't know the TSB# or what reflash - and the dealers are no help at all. I figured if I got them to flash it with the most recent reflash that would get it done, but when they pluged it in they said it was all up to date. There is also something about enabling "severe service" in the PCM which will raise the 1-2 shift point under part throttle. Can anyone help me out with this? I'm finding very little with searching. Thanks

I work at a chrysler dealership here in Grand Rapids, I just checked your truck through techconnect and I dont see a flash that changes the shift points, and I have never heard of "severe service". Did you try adjusting your Throttle valve cable? Tightening will make the 1-2 shift occur later, depending on how tight you set it.

Yea, I've played with the TV cable and it really has not had any effect on the 1-2 shift under part throttle. The origional tranny did the same thing, and when I had the tranny built at Goerend, Dave put the strongest 1-2 shift spring available in it.

The nest thing I would suggest is maybe try adjusting the throttle valve screw on the valve body itself, or change the Throttle valve spring, hopefully someone else will chime in

I've got the same problem. Called BD and they said what the 496rocket said about the throttle valve screw, they said to turn it in 1 1/2 turns.
I haven't done this yet. if you do let us know because this is a very common problem.

Changing anything to do with the computer and shift points won't make a difference except in OD and Lock up. The TV pressure and Governor pressure control shift points for 1-2 and 2-3 shift. The Govenor pressure should be 1 PSI for every MPH up to a speed like 60 or so(not sure). Unless you can change that in reprograming, the computer don't have anything to do with 1-2 and 2-3 shift points, Also going into Reverse. This is not a total eletric transmisson. Dodge is just about 10 years behind time's here.
I would think you would have to change some springs or something in the tv system to change shift point, or there's something wrong with the Valve body. You can't change the wieghts on the govenor!!
