P0234
Just got my new scan tool and tried it out tonight.
Got the code P0234. Scan tool says this is a supercharger/turbocharger over-boost condition.
Using the freeze frame function gave the folowing conditions,
code set at 92% load, engine temp 186F, Intake manifold press 75 in hg, engine RPM 2411, intake air temp 87F, Vehicle speed 58 MPH, throttle at 80%
So whatever all that means. Do you think this could have anything to do with my smoke problem?
Why would a stock truck Overboost?
I'm wondering if the MAP sensor is shot?? When I bought the truck a year ago it had an overboost code recorded, was reset by Dodge, the check engine light was not on when I pulled this code. Does the 75 in h.g mean that was how much boost the truck was making??? how many PSI is that??? Only mod on the truck is silencer ring gone. Does the 87F intake air temp mean code was set in the hot weather in the summer or is that just the temp of the air in the intake horn???
Sorry so many questions.

Yep I did. $300 on sale from $400. They had another reader for $249 but this one supposedly has more features or something........
Plus I had like $100 worth of CTC money The poor cashier just about soiled herself when I pulled that wad out. That's a lot of $0.05 bills.
So if you need to borrow it let me know.
Try the grese on the MAP sensor?? I will see if I can move the wastegate by hand. It is the MAP sensor that measure boost right?

if the MAP (manifold Air pressure or maximum absolute pressure) sensor isn't grounding or the connections are weak the computer will think it is under or over boosting, just pull the plug and use DIELECTRIC grease not the kind that goes in a ujoint, sometimes the code are brought on by a bad connection. If that doesn't work try a new MAp sensor but by it from Cummins being it is half the price 160cdn. RPM on the west side by Olds dodge carries a tube of dielectric for about 7 bucks. I picked up the same scanner but I am not impressed I want a real time scanner not just a freeze frame when someting goes bad, I think I will return it AFTER i check all my vehicles for codes
