Usually on start up the oil pressure on the gauge goes to around 40 when warm. When I start moving it goes up to about 60 or so. Lately it stays at 40 and sometimes jumps between 40 and 60 every few minutes. Could the sending unit be bad? I changed the oil last week with no change.

Could be a loose wire connection or a sender going bad.

Chances are, sending unit is going. Very common, I've cahanged 'em.

Mine also moves allot, when I step on it the pressure goes up. When it’s cold it stays really high, and then drops as it warms up. But it still moves when I accelerate. So is my sending unit going bad as well?

Sorry for the ignorant questions, just trying to learn as much as possible.

mine used to do the same thing then all of a sudden it started acting wierd. didn't want to go above 40 most of the time. I had a sending unit go bad on another truck i had but it just all of a sudden went to zero. This one seems to have a mind of its own. I'll try changing it and see what happens. Anybody know what they cost and where is a good place to get one?
