Oil gauge takes a few sec to pressurize after ignition is this bad?

Mine does that too. I thought about getting a new sender but at almost $300 for one i'd hate to replace it and have it not fix the problem

My truck used to show pressure with they key on - engine off. That is the symptom of a bad pressure sending unit. I replaced mine, now there is no pressure shown until after the engine is started. The needle always went to the same location (high in the operating band) and never moved. Tha was my first clue that things were not right.
The correct part number for 24V engines to early 2001 is 4088390. It cost me a whopping $87 from cumminstuff. They are located in Granbury TX, but I am sure that they ship.

My 98.5 shows pressure after 4-5 seconds, and sometimes the dinger will ding, but not always. I did some reading, and it is because the oil pressure sending unit is located high on the engine and it takes a bit before it sees pressure.
