Re:ODOMETER DISCONNECT?
Just curious,.....Why would you want to disconnect the odometer? ???
In the old days, you disconnected the speedo cable.
Now they make it very difficult to tamper with the indicated milage.
I believe the term is odometer fraud.

If he is trucking commercial I fully understand. They got you coming and going. Just got through watching on TV where they are being hacked with software and a laptop to set them where you want. Would have no idea how to go about it. If commercial is the reason, use hub miles and change it every year or so, keeps em confused (more than normal) A lot of records can be kept with only the last four of the odometer reading. Yeah it's only fraud if you try to sell it as current mileage. From what I understand the memory is in the dash unit, just change it.

Don't want to condone illegality,
but,
You can disconnect the speedo sensor, and that will kill the odometer.
When I had my Truespeed installed, they didn't solder the wire (the first time) so my speedometer/odometer/overhead computer didn't work for a weekend.
The wire they splice into is where the wire comes into the ABS controller from the speed sensor.
If you wanted to snip that wire, then use a GPS for speedometer, then reconnect the wire when you wanted the speedo/odo to work again, you could do that.
I'm guessing your ABS wouldn't work, although my ABS light didn't lite up when my speedo wasn't working.
If it is an Automatic transmission, it gets its shift messages from somewhere else, as my broken contact didn't affect shifts at all.
I guess if prodded enough, I could find my instructions for color code, etc.

Re:ODOMETER DISCONNECT?
Snip a wire and bam no odometer.
Just install some plug in connectors and you can connect and disconnect at your leisure. I found this out when I accidently snipped the wrong wire I was after. It takes out the speedo as well tho. Never tried to see if the cruise still worked.

That would be great if you could tell me which wire Phox. It is an auto trans.

It is a white wire with an orange stripe.
It goes into the smaller of the two connectors on the ABS controller under the hood.
(driver side, almost to the firewall).
I'm pretty sure I tried the cruise control and it didn't work.

Re:ODOMETER DISCONNECT?
No one ever answered as to why they would want to do this? You guys can do some serious jail time and if caught doing this. On the older Dodge's, like the 97's and back, all you had to do was unplug the wire coming out of the speed sensor on the t-case and the speedo was dead. I thought of doing it. I knew many who did. But I really didn't want to go to prison if caught. So I elected not to. Anyhow, we ought to stop talking about this, it will get shutdown, and rightly so.
