no start....sometimes

Occasionally when I turn the key I get nothing. No click of the starter, no dimming lights, just nothing. I one point a number of years ago I had a similar problem and it was the switch on the clutch pedal. Sort of a pedal in before it will turn over.

The starter is still in good shape. No click starts and it turn over very well even when very cold.

I have tried to turn the key off and on and it doesn't seem to make a difference.

If I keep pumping the clutch pedal it will start. Almost like something is under the mat. I removed the mat last week and it did twice this week end. I tried holding the key on before I pressed the clutch pedal and it does seem like it completes the circuit very close to the floorboard.

It doesn't look like this switch has moved.

thanks

the contacts inside the switch could be getting bad, or the connector itself could be ugly. That said, perhaps its the plunger unit that actuates the switch.

I would see if perhaps you can shim the switch, to get it to engage farther up on the pedal stroke. If that works, change the switch out for a new one, and drive happily ever after... until the new one fails

Have a good one

I had that problem lastyear and replaced the switch with a switch from o Reilly. 6 months later it started to happen again. I got a replacement since it was under warranty and its been good ever since.

By the way, how have you been doing??
