What fuel pressure am I looking for? I've got the Haynes manual and that will probably tell me also, but I thought I'd ask.

Thanks!

Bingo-- that's it. I'd get the 30psi version. You're looking for up to 15 psi with the factory fuel pump setup. You will probably have less than that, but if it's over 5psi and stays there, you're OK for now in my opinion.

These guages have a male 1/8" NPT fitting on the back, and you have to find a way to plumb them into your fuel delivery system. I did mine with a "big line" kit that eliminates the restrictive fittings and plumbing in the fuel system. Most of these kits will have a port where you can connect your guage. Grease gun hose is the right thread pitch and size (1/8 NPT), so it works pretty well, and it's oil resistant. I have two gg hoses in my setup-- one attached to the guage, another to the test port on my fuel lines. Then I connected these two hoses together.

I think Vulcan performance has a similar kit that does this kind of thing and will let you install a guage.

Other ways of tapping a guage into the system include a replacement fuel filter housing lid that has a machined port.

IMO--- the ideal would be to get a fuel pressure regulator that has the 1/8" NPT port on it. If you upgrade your lift pump down the road, you'll want a regulator for the fuel pressure.

I would do the valve adjustment if you have any doubt in your mind whether its been done or not. Its really pretty easy, the hardest part is just getting the valve cover and the rear 2 bolts off.
