Needs posi rear end
On my truck I only have an open diff. and in Oct. there's a truck pull that I would like to enter. So I think it's time to put in a posi. I think the rear end is a Dana70 and I haven't found much for Dana 70s. What do you guys recommend? Detroit Locker or maybe one of the electic or air lockers. Any input will be appreciated.

70 is way easier to find stuff then the 80
I have the open as well, and want to fix it, but...
Pretty much the only options for the 80, with the 3.54 gears is the ARB or stock Trashlok. You can get a True Trac or Detroit if you have 4.10s.
So, I will invest in the ARB as its only about $150 more for the ARB, plus the compressor.
I would like to put an ARB in the front as well, eventually.
With the 70, I would either get the Powr Lok or something like the True Trac.
Detroits are harsh but heavy duty. Not great for street use.
I would rather put a descent limited slip in mine, but nothing available in my case.

Dana 80 PL
GlenRMK
I've heard that Rieder Racing can modify a dana 70 pl to work in a 80. I believe its just a matter of drilling out the ring gear bolt holes. Don't know if they still do it but you might give them a call. I have the same problem but will not make the installation for a couple of months so I have not contacted them yet. Hope this helps.

Yes, Reider will slot the ring gear bolt mounting holes so that the D80 ring gear will bolt on the D70 HD carrier. Other than the ring gear bolt circle diameter, the carriers are identical. The Plok is by far the best LS carrier out there. It is much stronger and far more durable than the Tlok because it does not rely on a preset amount of clutch preloading to transmit torque but rather it self adjusts preloading on the fly to give as little or as much clutch preloading as the situation warrants through a set of ramps and cams on the spider gears. I have a Plok in both of my CTD's and they both have over 200,000 miles on them and continue to work flawlessly.....try and say that about any other LS!

So, I would have to send them my ring gear bolt?
Sounds like some down time?
Local shop said about $200 to install a traclok. But like $700 some dollars for the traclok. Powrlok any cheaper?

No, you don't have to send them your ring gear bolts or anything else. Call them and order a D70 HD Plok and ask to have them slot the ring gear bolt holes to accept the D80 ring gear....The cost of the Tlok and Plok should be similar.
