Question Is my VP44 Dying?

It has only happened one time. I tried to start my truck, after it was parked for about 10 minutes. It fired right up and died. Tried again, and it would not idle. It sounded like it was "hunting" up and down, and I had to keep feathering the throttle to keep it running. Idiot light came on then. Takes me around 10-15 attempts to start, and then finally it settles down and runs like a champ home. Tried to pull the codes with the ignition thing, but learned later my year truck won't do that. Check engine light then went out, and truck runs normal now.

My question is if the VP44 telling me its dying or was it just a hick up? Since my idiot light went out, will I still have any codes stored in the computer? I am out of the factory warranty, but I have about 20,000 miles left on the extended warranty, and well if it dies the sooner the better.... I guess.

Thanks,

James

P.S. The truck has 76,000 miles on it, and I replaced the lift pump around 69,000 miles. Fuel pressure is normal with the max flow system.

Well your going to have to pull the codes to find out... But you should check you LP pressure too. MIL (Malfunction Indicator Light) light just tells that there is a serious problem with the engine and a trouble code has been recorded.

Pray that the 0216 code doesn't pop up!
