Is my lift pump toast??
I got a fuel pressure gauge and just noticed last week that at idle i had 6psi and 0psi @ 1900rpm, but these readings haven't been consistant I've gone days with proper psi, 15psi @ idle, 10psi @ wot.
So I guess my lift pump will have to be changed soon, so my question is how long do I have until it just dies??
My rig only has 54000km(33000mi) isn't that alittle soon for the pump to be changed?? I'm gonna check and see if the warrenty will cover it since its a 2002.
thanx for any help!!

33k isnt an uncommon milage to have the lift pump go out (they can go at any time). And yes, the lift pump is supposed to be covered under the 100k mile warranty. Tell your dealer that the truck's power is reduced and ithat its hard starting along with your fuel pressure readings.

Hard to tell how long you have until it dies. The big question is, how long can you go before the INJECTOR pump dies? If I were you, I would replace that lift pump asap.

If you havent made any fuel system modifications (ie fuel boxes. big injectors etc.) you should still be under warranty. But follow Jack's advice and have it looked at ASAP.

Thanks alot for all the info.
I have a mechanical isopro fuel press. gauge, my rig is stock with no engine mods.....yet, and I only have 33000k on it. I'm gonna get going this week on the warrenty with my dodge dealer. thanx again!

Had mine replaced at 79000 km under waranty, no problem, they even paid for the tow truck. mine had stopped working completely, only discovered it wasn't working after changing the filter and couldn't get the truck to start, prior to the filter change the truck was running and starting fine.

Well since this post my pressure has been back to normal, 15psi @ idle and 10psi @ crusing, ths only thing that was different that week was the diesel I got was from a different gas station. Would the crappy diesel fuel make that much of a difference in pump pressure?? or is my gauge not working properly?? any suggestions in checking my lift pump?? thx again!!

Do you have an isolator?? It is possible that some water partially froze the line or bourdon tube in the guage......the best thing would be to check pressure with a different guage....
