Is My Injector Pump Dead?

Doesn't the electronics module on the VP44 have a formed plastic shield or shroud around it? Speaking from long experience with building computers, a box like that at the top of the engine and just under the hood will retain a lot of heat.
Could the answer be as simple as removing the plastic shroud? If the metal top on the module is designed to convect heat - as it should be - mounting a large (4 inch) component fan to direct air on it is an option, once the shroud is removed.

Because of the recent rash of VP trouble lately I've been topping off my fuel tank when it gets down to 1/2 full. I believe the more time the fuel sits in the tank, the better chance it has to cool off and keep the VP cool. Running & pulling hard and refilling at a 1/4 tank or lower is recirculating the fuel mighty quick and these plastic fuel tanks don't transfer heat well.
Fuel cools the VP. Check it yourself after getting the motor hot..put your hand on the VP.

Heck put your hand pretty much anywere on the truck in 100 degree heat and it's going to be hot let alone the VP44.
I do agree that these VP44's respond to weather changes. My brother and I started seeing dead pedal about a month ago when the outside temperature started to stay in the high 80's and low 90's.
I just had mine replaced so I'll see how long she'll last this time maybe install some cooling device to help it survive the Texas heat.
