Can you give some more detail? When does it happen, and for how long?

Anytime you have a reading below 5 PSI you are in danger of destroying your VP-44 (injection pump). 8 PSI is like hanging on to a cliff by your finger tips. You can search this site for lift pumps and have hours of reading on LP's; where to buy a new LP; after market FASS 11 systems, ect. Yours should be replaced immediately if not sooner. They are not hard to do at all. I just did mine yesterday took 1/2 hour, but this is my 4th one. First one took an hour.

I replaced mine because it was reading 12.5 PSI idle, 8 WOT (wide open throttle). I would rather replace a $160 LP than a $1,600 IP.

You can do it yourself! Good luck!

Ditto to Geico266. It isn't complicated and if you don't get a new one and quick, you can kiss a couple grand good by.

I was having the fluctuating pressure problem for the last few months also. Mine was pretty weird though... while driving it would go from 11 to 5. Back and forth constantly.
This was after the dealer changed my first lp. It started almost immediatly. I let it go for about 2k before taking it back. After two trips back and being told that everything was fine I decided to change it myself. I was between a rock and a hard place with only a week till elk season. While changing the lift pump I found where the mechanic had kinked the fuel line between the lp and the fuel filter. Oh well I guess now I have a spare.

Trust your guages to tell you there is a problem. Fluctuating FP is a danger sign. If there was an idiot lite attached it would be flashing!
