Missing @ 1200 -1400 RPM's

I know this has been a topic of discussion several times and have tried to search the threads without success. So....here I am!

Have recently been experiencing missing (significant bucking) at the 1200-1400 RPM power band. I have already replaced the lift pump, injector pump 30K miles ago. I was occasionally missing up until the past week. Now it is really missing. Note: we have had some hotter weather the past few weeks.....90-95 degrees.

Oh....I've also tried resetting the APPS and have cleaned the gound terminals and reinstalled.

Any new ideas would be appreciated.............

Is the engine actually missing or is it that the tranny can't decide if it wants to be in 3rd gear or 4th (overdrive)?

this is getting to be a real problem on all the boards..from all ive read, there is no end-all fix.....if you are sure its the engine, and not the tranny(which can be hard to tell sometimes),,clean all grounds, and try taking apart all connectors and use some dielectric grease and put them back together.common connector problems that ive read that helped with this was with the map and vp harness mainly, then some are saying iat helped also.......bama

I cleaned all ground connections and added dialectric grease. Added aluminum foil around the harness at the alternator to help shield from EMI. Cleaned the MAP and IAT Sensors. And.....voila, it seems to work fine.

Now that it is working it appeared to be a combination of 1200-1400 RPM and 45-50 MPH. I'm thinking it is associated with the overdrive not kicking in or knowing when it should be engaged.

So....for now, it seems to be working fine. Let's see how long it lasts.

Thanks,

Found an interesting fix for the tranmission torque converter engage/dis-engage issue that seems to be very common. Many fixes evolve around grounding and EMI (Electro Magnetic Interference).

I found this interesting information while digging for solutions! I thought I would pass this along.

Suncoast makes excellent high performance torque converters for Diesel trucks. See the attached symptom/solution link (APPS Rewire Ground Instructions)
