Minor Power Loss
My '01 AT CTD has always pulled the same grade every time in OD topping out at 60mph empty . Recently the truck has started having to downshift. I have lost some power somewhere :. Checked the fuel filter, air filter, tire pressure and switched brands of fuel. No effect. Truck runs great otherwise and no, I have not put on any weight (truck or me ) Truck has 31K and will soon loose warranty (therefore bombing begins) so I want to track this down quick. Any ideas? Thanks.

Dont underestimate the weather. Dont know where you live and if this is relevant or not, but maybe the last time you pulled that hill it was cool and dry, and now its hot and humid. Cant give you numbers for diesels as I have never messed around on the dyno with them, but I drag race a SBC in a GT/FA NHRA Superstock car. Going from 60°F, 30% RH and 29.9" Hg such as a nice fall day to 90°F 80% RH and 28.5" hg on a dog summer day is worth 50 HP on a 550 HP engine .

Check your fuel pressure, I noticed a small loss of power when my lift pump was dead.

Ditto on the fuel pressure

Re:Minor Power Loss
Thanks folks. Boost is good (have a guage). Its topping out at 18 psi WOT. Weather is warmer so it could be a factor. FP is a worry. I have been stalling putting one in until DiPricol fixed thier isolator problem :. Think I will move forward on that now. I have looked at a FP test guage at the local parts place but it says "not for use on diesel engines" ???. I may do it anyhow as I don't want to risl the VP44. Any idea why they would say no diesels? Thanks.

I am sure they say not for diesel engines to keep someone from hooking it up to the DISCHARGE side of the injection pump !!!! That would be cute !!! I am sure you are OK putting it on the lift pump side...

Re:Minor Power Loss
Thats probably it. I suspect the gauge warranty would not cover use on the wicked side of the VP44 ;D. I am going to pick up the gauge after work and check it out. Any good excuse,uhhh...any excuse to buy a tool is high on my list! This lift pump thing has made me paranoid anyway.
