MIL Light on, 1757 1762 1693 codes

I drove my truck to home depot today, and on the way home it felt like it was in the wrong gear at slow speeds. Like it was stuck in 1st or 2nd. Then I noticed the MIL light came on. So I checked the codes tonight, and I get:
1757 - GOV Press Not Equal to Target @ 15-20 PSI - The requested pressure and the actual pressure are not within a tolerance band for the Governor Control System which is used to regulate governor pressure to control shifts for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gear (Zero pressure malfunction)
1762 - Governor Press Sen Offset Volts Too Low or High - Sensor input greater or less then calibration for 3 consecutive neutral/park occurrences.
1693 - DTC Detected in Companion Module - A fault has been generated in the companion engine control module.

Truck is a 2001.5 Dodge Ram 2500 4x4 Cummins Auto w/ 71k miles

Before I take it to the dealer--any thoughts?

those codes can be set by the sensors in the tranny being dirty. dirt and metal debris in the trans oil will get on the sensor, giving false indications and the trans sticking in low gear. a good fluid and filter change with a flush may fix it, but I've read of folks removing and cleaning the sensors. How often are you changing the trans fluid? What is the condition of the fluid in the trans now?

I had the tranny fluid changed at about 35k miles, so I'm due. I guess I'll take it to the dealer and see what they say.

The dealer replaced a solenoid and a sensor. Cost for the repair (which included new tranny fluid) was $470. OUCH.

My sunglass holder broke (like they all do--bad design), so I asked about getting a replacement (read on here they were $20-$25). They call me and tell me it's $49. I say "No thanks!!!" so he calls me back and say's he'll give it to me for his cost, $29. What a joke.

I also asked about getting the oil in the diffs changed. $450. What a joke.

I don't mind paying a little extra to have it done right, but some of their markup is just ridiculous.

Thanks for the advice. I bet cleaning would have fixed it--but I'm afraid of transmissions.
