Mechanical Oil Pressure Gauge?

Mechanical Oil Pressure Gauge?
I have heard that the oil pressure gauge on the 24v's are actually run off the computer and tend to be way off with their accuracy. I was wondering what the benifit would be, if any to installing a mechanical oil pressure gauge. I was also curious as to where and how this gauge could be hooked up on the 24v engine.
Just a random curious question as usual.

There is a tap 1/8" or 1/4" cant remember...............ontop of the oil filter housing, this is on the outlet side of the oil stream and would be the best place to tap into for a reading, simple installation, would be interesting as to how the psi reads in comparrison the the oem gauge.

I seem to remember seeing a capped port on top of the oil filter housing.
Might be a good place to start.
Would reporting pressure through the ECM explain the display lag at startup??? (if that's what's happening)

I added an oil psi gauge after the I had a problem with the stock system. I tied into the 1/8" port on top of the filter housing. There is a little delay at start-up, the mech. runs a little higher when cold ( 60-65 idle, under load), and lower when warm ( 25-30 idle, under load). I mouted it in the tri-pillar, and added an addition the the pillar for the other planned gauges. I ran the nylon tube thru 3/16" (?) vacuum line the entire way. I will be changing out the gauge soon, because the gauge maxes out at 80. When the engine is cold, 1200 rpm's maxes the gauge.
