So I did it, Sold the 1999..cash offer I couldnt turn down...

So I am searching for a new CUMMINS!!!!

Question is this...is there any rhyme or reason to assume that a truck with a VIN showing an assembly of N. St. Louis would or would not have a 53 block...11th digit shows J

I know there is no sure way other than to check the block..and my 1999 was a NON-53 but I remember reading a thread where more than one person checked there VIN and found correlation that they both had Saluito (SP) assemblies and neither had a 53...

I am looking at a 2001....really want a 12v but they are FEW and far between and very hard to finance now.

I don't know that there is a direct correlation between build location and whether or not the truck has a 53 block. It does seem however that you hear of fewer from Mexico.

Like you stated, you want know for sure unless you check. I think the odds are more in your favor since the truck is an '01. Good Luck, hope you find a good one.

Forgot to mention that my truck is Mexican and I don't have a '53 block.
