Major oil leak help!
Hi, I'm not sure if I'm posting this in the right place my husband is usually the one on here but he is working outta town and I really need some help! Our Dodge has been leaking oil n I took it to the shop on Monday. They said they replaced the oil pan gasket n Engine Gear Housing Cover Gasket. When I got it home it was POURING oil!!!! I climbed under it n started trying to clean it up a little to find the leak. All of the oil is coming from the right side of the motor. The top half of the motor is clean but the bottom half is seriously a mess. Any ideas on what might be leaking or how to find out where it's coming from? Also, after I cleaned up a bit I went to start it to see if it would leak more n NOTHING happend! No juice at all! I wiggled the battery cables n still nothing!
I'm not a pro mechanic but I can keep up if someone explains it somewhat simply. Thanks for the help!!!!

Has the oil filter been changed recently?
Sounds like it could be the oil filter leaking.
Do the headlights and other electrical items still work?

First of all make sure you have the shifter all the way in park if its an automatic, lots of times people have problems and its not all the way in park.
the oil leak could be lots of places, in my case the leak was behind the timing plate, not just the timing cover. its a major job to take apart and fix, i used an epoxy to seal it up after i cleaned the spot. it took me about three hours, taking the fan and radiator ect. out.

Should i let it sit a while n then pressure wash it? Or just wipe it off with a rag? Tried engine degreaser and that didn't work. It's been caked on there for about a year so it's a couple inches this under there.

The oil filter was just replaced but it's not that. The top half of the motor is clean it's all on the bottom half, right side.

I'd get under there and pressure wash it to get the block somewhat clean. That's about the only way you're going to pinpoint a leak. There's a lot of stuff connected to the engine that can leak oil: turbo lines, oil filter, oil cooler, oil pan, etc....
