lowering 3.55 without changing question
#16
I hear ya, I just dont like the winding sound at 2100 rpms for long periods. As RJ said OD is such a tall gear. Why would they make a towing vehicle useless in OD until 70plus mph. If I could just gain 200rpms in OD I would be in the power band at 60. I like 1-3 gear. Oh well, I guess just keep it revved.

Running 265s myself and showing near on 60 @ 1800 revs and 66 @ 2000 revs.My axle tag and glove box sticker are showing a 4.10 rear also I think if I fitted the 3.55s I have on the garage shelf I would be doing near 75 @ 2000 revs. But and theres always a but the specification sticker on the door pillar shows the truck as being fitted with 245s,so I wonder if the previous owner fitted 265s and the speedo is slightly out.
Not wishing to hijack the thread but I bought 3.55s from Randys ring and pinion and I am now uncertain whether to fit them. The max speed tow limit here in the UK is 60mph and in certain parts of europe 50.If I do fit them it will mean sometimes I`ll be running with OD locked out.Which in turn will mean I`m running at slightly higher revs.
