Have you tried the key on/ off 3 times and leave it on, check and record anything that comes up in the odometer window. Not foolproof, but it would be a start.

You will see a number code(s). When it's done it will read "P Done".

well i tried the key 3 times both come up and say ---------- than p done so i guess nothings wrong there, hopefully ill make it to auto zone tomm and see what the computer says thanks for the help

I am assuming when you say you drive it down to 1/4 tank and then divide the miles by the gallon you are filling the tank full and using that for the gallon figure - right? (I know people that use their gauge and figure they have used 3/4 of their tank so they use 75% of 35 gallons - when the gauge is rarely accurate like that.) Just a thought.
