low fuel pressure
#16
Well, I ran out of time and just flat had to get the truck fixed so I took it to a diesel mechanic where I paid way more than I want to admit. He replaced the pump on the engine and didn't even mention that it should be relocated. I want to thank everyone for all the great information I learned. Looks like my next upgrade is to take the pump and move it to the frame near the tank. Thanks again all

OK, here I am again with the LP going out (it lasted 3 years) and am wondering after 3 years, is the Vulcan LP Relocation Kit my best option. And, so I know, what PSI should I NOT run the truck at. Right now if I don't gun it she hangs at 4psi. Thanks all again for your help.

If the fuel pressure is not taken after the filter change your filter first. 5-6 psi at WOT (wide open throttle) is as low as anyone would recommend you go. As for relocating the pump.... it's much easier to work on standing up than laying in the mud by the side of the road. As for changing the pump when the pressure starts to drop.... A friend says "why would you change it now in the shop where it's warm when it's much more of a challenge to do it broke down by the side of the road."

A better solution is to get the Vulcan relocator kit and put the pump on the frame. This kit also gets rid of the banjo bolts. Those things are the reason fuel pressure is so low. My fuel pressure is always 12 psi to 12.5 pis.
