Locking differential
I need some suggestions on what kind of locker I should use. I want to change my open rear end to a locker for better traction. Now it is basically one wheel drive and gets stuck on level wet grass. This truck is so heavy its needs help. Thanks

Review of a locker.

ARB also makes a selectable locker, that works as an open diff,or locked up solid.
2x4s are not going to get around that great anyway, not with that big ol diesel holding the front down, but one of those should work, there are others too,one that uses worm gears inside, looked good but I can't recall the name...

Lockright and powertrax will both work in the open carrier you have now. Drivetrain specialist has these. For some reason when I post their address, the wrong site appears.

I looked at the Powertrax on line and wondered about the durability and noise, but the price is right. I'll have to do a search for a test on it. Thanks

From what I've read and heard both work very well. I do believe the lock-right is the stronger of the two. I seen lots of info and it seems they do well against the competitors. I'm about to start rebuilding the front axle in my truck. I want to use a power-lok limited slip, but may do the power-trax instead since I'm putting in new axles and manual hubs at the same time. Here's a web site that has some info. You can read about both. http://www.powertrax.com/lockright.html Maybe this will help. Ron
