Lock up acting up.

On my cousins 1999 Cummins automatic 4wd. the lock up is locking unlocking around 45-50 was only 45 now its climbing when it does it. I'm thinking tps but its 500 bucks and i don't want him to spend that much money. What other things could cause it to do it. Its getting worse and needs attention. Any other thoughts. thanks

Very common, a few things free to check are all engine and battery grounds, clean them good. I believe (not sure) there are 7 grounds maybe 5??. Another trick that actually fixed mine was to wrap the black with brown tracer wire behind the alternator with tin foil and wrap with electrical tape to the pass battery.

Do a search for more detailed info but a TPS/APPS would be last on my list, if you go that route search for member Timbo1's apps and save some money.

Good luck and happy ground finding.

Thanks for the response i done some digging and theres a websight that says to take the black wire with yellow tracer and cut it and put both ends to grounds and that should fixt the problem so thats what we are tring now.
