lift pump operation

lift pump operation
this might be dumb question.
when I turn my key to the run position is the lift supposed to run without a delay? at the moment I have about a 5 second delay before the lift pump turns runs.
would there be any problem with wiring the relay to a key on source instead of the ECM? I would also add the circuit to turn off the pump while its cranking.
thanks for the info

I think the lift pump does not come on until you bump the starter, then it runs for 5-10 secs. It seems to fire up when you start the motor, I watch the FP rise very quickly.
I see no reason to change anything, unless it is broke, my $.02

supr...just this morning I noticed the delay was gone..I haven't changed a thing other than to wait until FP is up..then crank..
I was going to post this..but this afternoon the delay is back??
anyone else have any thoughts?
I do agree about not doing anything until it breaks. I would like a plan when it quits..I know I have to jump the AirDog relay to get home..no problem there.
