The leak that went away.

The leak that went away.
Started the truck for the first time in about a month today, it has been extremely cold out and wet to boot, plus the truck sits outside. When I first started and let it idle I noticed a drip underneath the truck, let it run for a few minutes and it was still dripping, backed it up a bit and checked the drip, it was clear, not coolant or anything and smelled a kind of like Diesel but more like Power Service or lighter fluid (has power service in it right now). Traced it down, it was dripping on top of the started, dripping off the bottom of the starter onto the front diff, down the front of the diff on onto the ground from where the cover bolts on. After a few minutes it quit and hasn't dripped a drop since, drove it a bunch, let it sit an idle etc and dry as can be. Any ideas, is it just from sitting too long and needed warmed up or something? Ran great otherwise. I did notice that I have a leak around the back of the power steering unit while I was in there.

Sounds like fuel to me. PS fluid would be obvious to detect.
I have a fuel leak (very slow seep) that follows the exact path you described-- starter, front diff, ground.
It's good rustproofing at hwy speeds
