Know of any good shops to do a VP44 replacement in SE Texas

My father in law's 2002 CTD VP44 is on the verge of shitting the bed... dead pedal and 0216 code...

He lives in New Waverly smack dab between Conroe and Huntsville... anyone know of any trusted shops to touch his Cummins?

Thanks a ton!

Bring it to Fairfield I'll do it for him! But then theres that trust issue and im not insured so youd be runnin a small risk there. If im not mistakin there is a place in Hunstville thats very reputable. Not sure on the name but iv heard from a buddy that its a good shop. Yellow pages will surely find them. I replaced mine bout a month ago, nothin to it.

Good Luck

RocketJohn- If he has changed others before he could surely do this one. Not havin to worry bout keepin the engine in time with the pump makes it easier than older non electric controled pumps. Otherwise its a fairly simple nuts and bolts job, just remember to keep everything clean. Id say it would take around 4 hours to do it, took me longer cuz i pulled out the radiator for cleaning and replaced cam and crank sensors.

bnold- HA your right its a small town with too many people in it. When you gonna be here id like to see your ride thats an impressive sig. My wifes family is from plano so im up your way often.

No problem. Another tip is be sure to have a 15mm 1/2" drive socket and a pretty long breaker bar or good ratchet and cheater bar to break loose the engine lift bracket bolts, mine where super frigin tight. At least a 6" and 3" extension together are needed to reach the back nuts on the pump. A torque wrench is handy. And now is the best time to replace the cam sensor as its really hard to get to with the pump in place plus its not too expensive even at the stealerships.

He can do it its easy! Plus he'll save money!

O almost forgot, the directions for this are on this site somewhere probably in the wiki, or a haynes manual is a decent guide.

Good luck
