Keep the auto or throw in a 5 speed?
I just bought a 99 dodge 2500 4x4 with 205k miles on it. The auto is still strong but I will be pulling and I will be adding a good bit of power. The truck came with a rebuilt nv4500 and transfer case to do a swap that I'm selling in the classifieds but I'm having second thoughts.
My question is should I wait till the auto goes out and throw in a built auto (ats or sumthin like that) or swap in the 5speed I already have?

IMHO, I have had 5 spds for 20 yrs. Finally bought an auto just because I'm older and found a nice quad cab. Love the quad cab, but,,,,, I'm selling it because I can't get my head around the auto. The 5 spd is so much more comfortable mentally to drive and especially to tow with. You can feel the internal problems if they arise, not just waiting for the torque converter to blow up on a mountain side! Keep the 5spd.
