While at Cummins today a discussion of the KDP was going on for a long time. Cummins says the fix is real simple on the older timing case. The dowel pin sits near 1/8 inch below the surface of the case. How they are fixing them is to install the case and drive the pin all the way in, then use a large center punch and hit the aluminum case to close the edge in. They said the tab is not necessary and do not stock anything for it as this is the fix they use. There is no pressure on it just trying to keep it from vibrating out and this does it fine. One mechanic said that he just hits it with a punch to dent the aluminum on the surface, never had one come back. Just hit it enough so that it can't vibrate out.
