Just thought I would say thanks!

Some of my family are traveling around the country in a 98 – 3500 with a truck camper. Last night they called me from Trinidad CO broke down. It would not shift out of first. About all I do on this site is read and gain knowledge. I remembered reading about several things about this problem. I did a search, and when they awoke from the night, I directed them to (they had already check the fluid level) disconnect the batteries to reset the codes. This did not help. They could not get it to shift no matter what they tried. (Manually or letting off the gas). This led me to believe that it was not the solenoid, and was leading me to believe it was the speed sensor. I told one of the fellows to take it out and clean the end of it and reinstall. They are back on the road.
I would have not known what to tell them if it was not for sites like this. Thanks again.
